To give you an example of our work, this portfolio is a small selection of web sites designed by Receptive Design to very different client briefs.
Strawberry Fair of Huddersfield
Strawberry Fair requested that we take on the
job of building their site, of which they have large plans, and
choose to take a gradual approach to their site. Once completed, the
Strawberry Fair site will feature online shopping facilities, customer
feedback areas, homemaking tips and much more.
Currently the site is in it's second phase, which consists of online gift lists, products catalogue, and restaurant menu's. It is updated using custom administration pages. Enhancements include image uploads and thumbnailing, paging facilities, listing positions, the ability to hide/show products and categories.
As we complete the various phases of this site we will update this page with the relevent infomation.

Joyce Livingstone Embroidery
Joyce Livingtone Embroidery wanted a database-driven
shopping site with product customisations. We used Javascript on the product customisations,
to allow the provision of user-provided data to their shopping basket.
Customisations include colours, user text, dates, and weights, fragrances, and more.

the ark
We were approached by the ark giftshop of London
to create a basic database-driven online shop, again providing an
administration back-end to add/update/delete products and categories.
Additional features include item colour selections, and out-of-stock options.

BritishSignLanguage.com
We were asked to convert this very popular site
to use the latest web standards and data-driven pages, which included
a bespoke administration back-end; providing the ability to create, update, and
remove animated British Sign Language words, letters and numbers. Functionality
to relate words to other words was also provided.

Fairmont & Main Ltd.
Fairmont came to us looking to put
their products catalogue on the web, and wanted as much integration
as possible with their internal system. A few small changes were made
to their internal database which allows them to update the website database
using a single exported text file (CSV). Product
images are resized, cropped and then uploaded using FTP.
In our last major upgrade to the fairmont site we improved the catalogue to allow extra data, provided a product search facility, and created special routines to allow the selection of product categories for the home page and the products index page. We also reprogrammed the site from ASP to PHP for improved data handling and security.
We built a mini-site for Fairmont to coincide with the companies first exhibition at the Chelsea Flower Show 2003, which can be viewed here.
